Join us for this exciting young adult discussion series, That’s Unbelievable!

Each Program in this series will focus on amazing records, laws and facts.

All programs will be held in the Whetstone Room at the Comer Library from 4:00-5:00 pm.

All teens ages 12-18 are invited to attend.



August 15, 2017 – Wacky World Records

Learn about some of the most amazing and unusual records ever set from around the world! For this program we will sue the Guinness Book of World Records series.



August 29, 2017 – Amazing Animal Facts

Come and learn wild facts about animals! From the smallest dog to the deadliest jellyfish in the world!



September 5, 2017 – Strange Laws

Many states have a variety of odd and outdated laws still listed in their books. For example, in Marshalltown, Iowa, it is against the law for a horse to eat a fire hydrant, so make sure to keep your horse tied up far away from the hydrants!



September 19, 2017 – Odd Jobs

Discover some of the world’s strangest (and necessary) jobs.



October 3, 2017 – Mistakes That Worked

Some of the biggest mistakes turned out to be the greatest inventions! Learn the stories behind Silly Putty, doughnut holes, ice cream cones, and many other wonderful “mistakes!”



October 31, 2017 – Bizarre People

A look at some of the strangest and most bizarre people who ever lived (and died)! From Jimmy Dale Stubble, the cowboy who was buried standing up, to Willie Stokes, who was buried in a custom- made Cadillac Seville coffin. Complete with steering wheel and tires!



November 7, 2017 – Those Crazy Anagrams

What do you get when you take a word and scramble its letters? You get crazy anagrams! Come and hear some of the funniest and often ironic anagrams. For this program we will use the book, ELVIS LIVES! and Other Anagrams, by Jon Agee.



December 5, 2017 – Did You Know?

A collection of amazing (and useless) facts. Did you know an ostrich’s eye is bigger than its brain?¬†Come brush up on your useless trivia!
