“Organization Meeting at City Hall Wednesday has 40 members”
The organization meeting of the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce was held Wednesday evening at the City Hall. Present were 40 members, leaders in the city civic life and a group fully cognizant of the opportunity and obligation which was theirs.

Elected to serve the organization as president was Dr. F. H. Craddock with E. C. (sic) Turner as secretary-treasurer. The business session was devoted to the appointment of an executive committee and a discussion of ways and means and a program of activity.

R. P. Greer was appointed to head the executive committee as chairman. Working with him will be J. Craig Smith, J. W. Brown, Jr., J. S. Pitts, L. L. Smith, H. A. Parker, J. E. Wallis, Max Goldberg, Bill Moody, T. M. Roberts, Tom Lane, H. L. Humphries, T. A. Ogletree, Jr., W. H. Runge and G. B. Hill.

The executive committee was charged with the responsibility of conducting a membership drive. This work will get under way at once. All indications are that such a campaign will meet with success on every hand.

A discussion of the program for the Chamber of Commerce ensued. Other projects given attention were encouragement of new industries, a Trade Day event, celebration upon the opening of the new highway and the extensive agricultural program.”
